Results: The difference between the experimental group and the control group and the difference between the pretest and the posttest in the experimental group were statistically significant and therefore Hypothesis 1 was accepted. The difference between the pretest and the posttest in the experimental group were statistically significant and therefore Hypothesis 2 was accepted. The difference between the pretest and the posttest in the experimental group were not statistically significant and therefore Hypothesis 3 was rejected.

Conclusion: We need to conduct repeated research in order to examine the effects of the developed empowerment program by extending the frequency and period and to complement the contents of the program so that the program can improve elders¡¯ activities of daily living and be applicable also to elderly patients in facilities.
